Abortion Protest, Fargo $$ Grows, Forum Fights Seal

<iJJ> Abortion protest begins at ND’s only abortion clinic in Fargo. The only reason I’m really posting this is because their goal is to hold vigil for 40 days straight. Usually it is only periodically for short periods (days) at a time. While I don’t personally like abortion (please adopt!) I do think the choice should be available (I’m not gonna tell some woman what to do with her body!). Hopefully it’ll stay peaceful and won’t disrupt the Red River Women’s Clinic’s usual business too much.

<iJJ> Metro economy makes gains in past decade. The numbers prove what is common knowledge. Fargo is the leader in the ND economy with Bismarck playing a close second and Grand Forks a distant third. Minnesota’s per capita personal income leads ND with Minneapolis-St. Paul being about $8,000 more than Fargo. The only cool numbers for Fargo-Moorhead are: 2005 GDP of $8.5 billion and 120th in the nation in per capita personal income of the metro (up from 175th in 1995).

<iJJ> Forum Communications Corporation to fight decision to seal UND nickname lawsuit. Darn right they should! Is there any reason that a public university with authority from a public entity (ND Board of Higher Ed) to fight the NCAA decision on their contentious nickname (with private funds) be allowed to have their court records sealed? As they say, two out of three ain’t bad – while the funds being used are supposed to be private (I’d love to see a running audit of sorts on that…) it involves a state entity. Make the records public!! Later.
