This isn’t news because its so random…

<iJJ> America – not Mrs. Obama – needs makeover
Hell yes its America that needs a makeover. I don’t feel like backing up that remark right now, but let’s just say that America needs to move into the 21st century. Things are a changing – get with it!

Oh and I watched portions of FX’s 30days tonight – and it kinda pissed me off. The crazy LDS woman didn’t budge at all. Neither did the gay couple though, but I understand them more than her. They didn’t want to give because it would be prohibiting their actions, she didn’t want to give because it would compromise her morals. Huh? If some idiot shoots up herion in Maryland does that make me an addict? Dumb logic.

<iJJ> North Dakota is the Saudi Arabia of… oil
What has had me angry over the last week (this story and the StarTrib story ran on June 6) is that everyone has been talking about opening up off-shore areas and the Alaska Wildlife Refuge to drill for oil. What about ND?!?!?! Are we that distant from civilization that you’d rather drill through 4 miles of water (then 2 or so miles of crust) 200 miles off-shore rather than in the middle of the freakin’ continent? Honestly people, wtf.

<iJJ> Who Altered British TV? ‘Who’ Indeed
A great piece from the NYT about Russell Davies and how he rehabbed British TV. He did the original Queer As Folk in the UK; then went and updated Doctor Who – and helped spawn Torchwood. This gentleman has given me many hours of television enjoyment.

Speaking of TV – one of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force shows tonight was the ’standards and practices’ episode. Which, with George Carlin passing away on Sunday, in retrospect almost seems like a homage to his “seven words” bit. At the very least they both try and point out hypocrisy in society and such.

<iJJ> Space Aliens Grill and Bar is North of Ordinary
Someone from Minneapolis MetBlog went to Albertville and visited the Space Aliens there. Seeing that place become a franchise is kinda funny for me – because as a teenager growing up in the Bismarck-Mandan area I watched it come into being and went to it (with my parents of course ;) ). Also Bismarck ND doesn’t bring to mind ‘alien themed family restaurant franchise’ – so that adds to the oddity factor.

<iJJ> That is awful.
To finish here is a gem from Overheard in Minneapolis.

Shirtless guy #1: So, what I hate is when you wake up and you’re, like, still drunk.
(Rest of shirtless dudes chuckle)
Shirtless guy #2: No, what I really hate is, you know, when you wake up after getting trashed and there’s someone in your bed.

 lol

Later.
