Live Blog; 2009 Summit League Championship

6:28pm – Because of the crazy ass blizzard that has canceled my class and closed most places here in Grand Forks I have decided to live blog the Bison’s history making game versus Oakland (of CA? I’m not sure) to win the Summit League Tournament (in addition to the regular season championship) and a spot in March Madness/The Big Dance/NCAA Tournament. GO BISON!!!!!!

7:00pm – The stupid World Baseball Classic is running over – therefore I am not seeing the beginning of the game. Boo! Who the hell cares about Italy and Venezuela?!? I know I don’t!

7:14pm – Oh thank the alleged gods!!! The baseball game is over! Now onto some basketball!
Yikes! The Bison are down 13-10. Wait, its 16-8!?! What the hell!!

7:20pm – Oakland is from Michigan… ok. I am not happy with the score. 20-10, come on Bison you can do better. 1970 was the last year when a 1st year DI team made it to the NCAA Tourney.

7:22pm – TV time-out. The Bison seem to be a bit nervous, but hopefully will recover… soon.

7:29pm – We’re down 33-19. If you could only hear the expletives I am using right now….

7:37pm – This is what I’m f’ing talking about!! TV time-out and the Bison are closing the gap!! 35-27

7:43pm – Time-out. Its a 10 point game – the Bison need to turn it on. Like NOW!

At the half we are down by ten points 43-33.

An observation… the two national people for ESPN2 are douches. They keep refering to Oakland like they deserve to win. Excuse me! Pretty sure they are the 3 seed and shouldn’t even be there

8:06pm – I think I feel the tide a turning… we are only down by 6 and I think the Bison have finally arrived. Imagine that, a Bison team that sleeps through the first half and dominates in the second half. That NEVER happens… lol

8:21pm – I am a nervous wreck right now… 53-44.

8:29pm – The Bison need to get it done. NOW!!! This being down by 10 points shit needs to stop….

8:39pm – With a little more than 4 minutes left the Bison are kinda realizing that it is now or never. 62-57

8:43pm – Its a 1 point game!!! And Oakland just did a stupid turnover! Optimism is rising again… 62-61

8:49pm – We have the lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 64-62
Had a mini-heart attack, as we took the lead a f’ing EAS message took over my cable box. Midco might be getting a cranky ass call if that happens again…

8:51pm – The Bison know how to give me a heart attack. Really. No joke. 31 seconds left, leading 64-62.

BISON WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

66-64 and THE North Dakota State Bison are going to the Big Dance!~!
